Welcome to Jam Hands! My name is Ali and I love to blog about recipes that I have made and loved. I wanted to take a minute to tell you a bit about myself and what I blog about. Before I start, I would love it if you added me on the following social media websites:

You can follow me through a RSS reader or through Email. If you subscribe by Email you will get, at most, an email once a day letting you know what I posted recently. I don't typically post every day though, so it may be only 2-3 emails a week.

You can contact me via the contact page, or by emailing me at jamhandsblog{at} Please don't hesitate to contact me anytime, I'd love to get to know you and try to help with any questions you may have.

A little bit about me. I am a mom of a 7 and 5 year old girl and boy. They are truly awesome kids. I live in the Rocky Mountains.

We also have some very sweet boston terriers, Sophie and Lulu.

The inspiration for the name of this blog came about when I was watching one of my favorite shows...
"I don't even like kids. They always have jam on their hands. Even when there isn't any jam in the house, they get jam on their hands. I can't deal with jam hands." - Luke from Gilmore Girls.
Unlike Luke, I do like kids, having two of my own that rock pretty hard. The name stuck with me though, and I thought it would be a good representation of getting your hands dirty in the kitchen and having fun.

I have been blogging about food since 2004. When I started I had just entered my twenties and it has brought me all the way now to thirty. I have learned a lot in that time and I hope I have grown into a better person. In my twenties I was a bit of a know it all, mouthy and hot tempered. In my thirties, I have realized I know very little, am more thoughtful of my words, and still a bit hot tempered, though I try to tone that down.

The past ten years of food blogging has added up to a lot of meal plannin', picture taking, and taste testing.  To give you an idea of what I enjoy blogging about here are some handy shortcuts.

Sometimes I cook healthy-ish food (leaning towards the 'ish')
Impossible Banana Ice Cream
Grilled Portobello Sandwiches with Garlic Herb Mayo
Butternut and Acorn Squash Soup

Other times I cook really indulgent food
Pepperoni Mac and Cheese
Spinach, Bacon, Swiss and Cream Cheese Quiche
Lemon Ooey Gooey Bars

I cook from scratch
Chocolate Zucchini Bread
Blueberry Crumb Bars
Baby Bluebird Cupcakes

But I also am not afraid to bust out a cake mix or other convenience product
Barbecue Chicken Pizza
Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies
Banana Butterscotch Cake

I write about food blogging
Is it wrong to post recipes?
