16oz.package bacon, any style cutcut into thirds or halves depending on how many chestnuts come in your can. Amounts will vary.
2cans(8 ounce each) water chestnutsdrained
⅔cuplower sugar ketchup
⅔cupSplenda brown sugar blendor any other brown sugar substitute of your choice
1teaspoonWorcestershire sauce
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400-f degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Alternatively, you could a broiler pan to avoid having grease pooled at the bottom of your pan, or use a 9x13" pan and lightly spray it with nonstick spray. Whichever way you go about it, please be advised that at the half way point of baking, if these amount of grease at the bottom of your pan bothers you, you should drain it off.
Open your cans of water chestnuts and drain. Count how many total and cut your bacon either into thirds or in half to accommodate. The amount of chestnuts can vary quite a bit which is why this step is advised. Wrap each cut piece of bacon around a water chestnut and place seam side down onto your baking sheet. Bake for 35 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine the ketchup, brown sugar blend and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. After the bacon wrapped chestnuts have baked for the directed 30 minutes, use a basting brush to coat them with prepared sauce. You could also just use a spoon and pour the sauce over evenly. Return to the oven for an additional 20 minutes. Add toothpicks are this point as they can be a bit messy. Serve warm.
