Layered Bean Dip

If you are on a last minute hunt for party food, let me introduce you to this tasty Layered Bean Dip from Katie’s Nesting Spot. It comes together in less than 10 minutes, 5 if you are really scootin’ along. Spices are added to refried beans then you layer on sour cream and the toppings of your choice. It is easy, delicious and a crowd pleaser.

I would like to also say that as I was taking these pictures my 3 year old was taking off her tennis shoe and instead of removing it like normal, she flung that sucker across the room and it landed right in this bean dip.

I looked up at her from the camera and said, “Really? REALLY?” She looked a little concerned at first but then she laughed. Kids!

Layered Bean Dip
Makes several servings

1 can refried beans
1 packet taco seasoning, using about 2 Tbsp. of seasoning from it
sour cream
freshly shredded cheddar
diced tomatoes
sliced green onions
sliced black olives

1. In a bowl combine the refried beans and taco seasoning. Stir well until combined. Spread onto a large serving dish or pie plate.

2. Stir up the sour cream to loosen it up. Spread over refried beans. Top with shredded cheddar.

3. Add remaining ingredients and serve with tortilla chips.

  1. Yummy! I have a recipe for a 7 layer dip that is very similar. The difference is you mix the taco seasoning into the sour cream, and add a layer of salsa and guacamole.
If a shoe had landed in the bean dip at our house, I have a feeling it would not have ended on such a pleasant note, ha ha…

  2. I am so pleased you tried the bean dip! Thanks for sharing it on your blog 🙂 It was so fun to come over to get some links for a post I'm working on about recipes I made from Jam Hands and to see this pop up!

  3. You're kidding! I would have flipped. And then licked the shoe off and eaten the portion that the shoe touched and brought it to the party with a big hole missing. LOL! I loved layered dip. I like to put a layer of guacamole on there too, and olives to make it seven layers. This one is easier, though, b/c no mashing avocadoes!

  4. The recipe sounds delicious, and the picture makes it look yummy!
And even though her shoe landed in the dip, that did sound humorous!!
