Quick Update - Recipe Link Party Coming Soon

Starting this Monday morning I'll be hosting a weekly recipe sharing link party, called Recipe Sharing Monday. I wanted to give you a few days notice so if you wanted to add me to your link lists or to any scheduled posts, you would have time to do it over the weekend.

I had tried a weekly link up a few months ago and ultimately I wasn't satisfied with the theme I chose for it, which was pretty much a free for all of crafts, diy, cooking, etc. I've thought long and hard about it, and I'd like to start up a recipe / food only link party.

I am dedicated 100% to make it a great way to showcase your best recipes. I'll have weekly features as well, so I hope you will add me to your link lists and link up with me every Monday morning.

The poll results are in!

Last week I asked you what you thought the ideal weekly posting frequency was. I had many people ask me to post the final tally, so here they are. Are you surprised by the results? If you would like to chime in and share how often you blog or on the other side of the fence - how often you want to see a blog post (two different things there, for sure), head to the comment section.

What is the ideal weekly posting frequency for blogs?
  • Every day - 13 votes (37%)
  • Every other day - 10 votes (28%)
  • 2-3 times a week - 17 votes (48%)
  • once a week - 0 votes (0%)

Big Honkin' Quick Update.

You guys! All right, I might break my rule of not using excessive exclamation points, but I am just excited right now. I was farting around blog land and I came across this amazing site that allows you to set up a forum (aka a "community") that is embedded within your blog.

If you are staring at your screen blankly right now, wondering what that means, it means that it is built in into my blog so you just click the "Forums" link up above and it will transform the current page into the forums. Where you then can come say hi to me. Or yell at me. Or ask me questions.

Oh, but get this! Not only is it a community forums where you can say hi, and post stuff like any other forum, they also have a live discussion option. So if I am sitting there with a giant alcoholic beverage watching Trueblood and you want to come say hi and make snarky/fun comments about the show, you can! Isn't that cool?

Also, a perk for you is that after you become a member, your most current blog posts will be featured on the welcome page of the community. Hoorah for exposure, right?

What are you waiting for? Go check it out! Since I just launched it today I am sitting in there all alone with my adult beverage with no one to talk to. Don't make me be that girl.

You do have to set up a little profile if you haven't done it before with the blogfrog site, but, the cool thing is if you visit another blog that has their forums hosted by blogfrog, you wont have to register again (I hate that). Just use your login info, join the community, and wha-bam! You are set to go.

I hope to see you in there. Bring your own beverage of choice.

Quick Update

I have family coming into town today so I will be away from the computer this weekend. If you have any questions feel free to email me (info is on my about page) and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I will be able to respond to comments or any non-urgent cooking & recipe questions on Tuesday.

Oh, but the fun stuff! Check out the food I'll be making this weekend. I'm so excited.

  • Shrimp Etouffee
  • Corn Spoon Bread
  • New Orleans Bread Pudding w/ Bourbon Sauce and Chantilly Cream
To answer your next question, yes, I'll be sure to take pictures and post the recipes.

Quick Update

If you visited Jam Hands recently you might have noticed an updated (but not final) design, as well as some new features in the sidebar. One that I'd like to point out is under the header of Site News. If you are curious as to what is in the works for this website or would like to see what we're up to in the kitchen, check it out on your right.

I have some great news. The updating of all archived recipe photos is now complete! Wow, it took a lot of work, but it is done. I recommend checking out the updated pictures by browsing the recipe index, or even just by checking out these random links.  Note: Since blogger was down for a day and they had to revert to an old restore point, a lot of the photos that I updated have now been reverted back. Oh well, I'm gonna give it till the end of the weekend to see if it resolved itself. If it hasn't I'll go back, again, and fix them.

I wasn't able to find all of the original pics to update them, so a handful are still a little bit fuzzy (chicken poppy seed casserole, I'm looking at you), but overall the picture quality is much better.

Finally, there have been a ton of new visitors and followers the past few weeks, and I wanted to say a giant thank you for visiting and leaving comments. I am so excited that more people are dropping by. If a comment requires a response I first try to respond by email (be sure to enable 'show my email' in your blogger profile), or I might respond on the post itself, or last resort I will visit your blog to respond. If I haven't gotten back to you please don't hesitate to bug me-- I mean remind me to get back to you.

Quick Update

I've updated my blog to  www.jamhands.net.  People who have subscribed through readers should be automatically updated.

While this is updating, I'll be doing a lot of work behind the scenes here for the next few days. Apologies in advance if you are unable to access archived posts temporarily.

Quick Update

You may have noticed I have been posting a huge backlog of recipes that I don't have pictures for yet. Rest assured that I am posting recipes that I have personally tried and loved. I just got sick of not sharing recipes simply because I wasn't able to photograph them. I hope that is all right with you guys.
