Strawberry Scones with Strawberry Glaze
Delicious, tender scones with a sweet strawberry glaze. I thought these were better on day two. They held together a bit better and were nice and moist. Normally I cut scones into triangles but this time around I went with rounds and I really like the shape better. They seem to have less burnt edges this way.
I adapted a recipe found at Heather Cristo for this recipe. I simplified her recipe a bit and I loved the result. Enjoy!
Strawberry Scones
Makes 12 scones
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 8 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 2/3 cups cream
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon cream
- Strawberry Glaze:
- 1 strawberry, minced (I used 2)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon cream
Directions:
- In the bowl of a food processor, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Pulse in the cold butter until crumbly.
- In a separate bowl, combine the egg and cream. Pulse in the cream mixture until you have a smooth, wet dough. Transfer to a floured surface and lightly form into a disc. Cut the disc into wedges or cut out circles with a cookie cutter.
- Brush the tablespoon of cream on the tops of the scones.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. Take the scones out of the oven and set them aside to cool slightly while you make the strawberry glaze.
- In a small bowl whisk together the strawberry, powdered sugar and cream until you have a smooth glaze. Pour 1 tablespoon of glaze over the top of each scone. Let set up and serve warm.

Those scones look fantastic. Most scones I see online look dry but these look moist and I love the idea of the strawberry glaze.
These were very moist Pam. The glaze was delicious too. Hope you try them 🙂

Ali, I love scones, and these are so pretty for Spring. ♥ I like that you used a food processor for the dough- it's how I make my pie crust. And now, it's how I make scones! 😉
Thank you Joy! The food processor worked great for these. We use it for pie crust too 🙂
