Halloweenie BBQ Cheese Pockets

We’ve been having a lot of Halloween treats courtesy of the recipes at Plain Chicken the past few weeks. Many, many thanks to Stephanie for these wonderful ideas. We are serving the pepperoni mummy braids and these halloweenie pockets at our party today and they look great.

My pockets turned out quite goofy looking but the kids still love them. If I made these again, I would go with using puff pastry as I find it is much easier to work with and I prefer the taste. If you chill the puff pastry well before cutting the face shapes, it should work worlds easier than the biscuit dough.

Halloweenie BBQ Cheese Pockets
Makes 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 7 hot dogs
  • 1/4 – 1/3 cup BBQ sauce
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1 can (8 count) Grands Flaky Biscuits

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350-f degrees.
  2. Dice hot dogs and toss with BBQ sauce. (I sauteed the hot dog pieces for a few minutes and then added bbq sauce.)
  3. Separate each biscuit into to layers.  Flatten each layer into a 4-inch circle.  Top one layer with some BBQ hot dog and half a slice of American cheese.
  4. Using a sharp knife, cut out jack-o-lantern faces from remaining biscuit layer; place over hot dog mixture and pinch edges to seal tightly.  Roll scraps from face cut outs and use as the stem.  Repeat with remaining biscuits.
  5. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown.

    1. Hi Candi – To clarify I don't like it when people post both my photos and my recipes. It is one or the other — not both. So recipes I don't mind, but photographs I am very protective of. 🙂 So for you, and others who have asked me if they can use my photos, I usually say yes as long as you aren't using both the recipe and photo. And also as long as it isn't more than just a few photographs.

I don't want someone copying my entire blog onto another site, there is no need for that, and that's what pinterest is for if you want to bookmark something. 😉
