Pinterest Makes Me Laugh

Browse through Pinterest for any length of time and if you pay attention I bet you start to notice a few things that make you laugh. I mean no harm when I point these out, they just make me chuckle. Here's my list:

1. Overuse of exclamation points! People are SUPER excited to get recipes, so much so that every single caption to a pin is an exclamation. Is it real enthusiasm? Fake? Are there that many cheerleaders on Pinterest? Who knows, but it makes me laugh to think that people are that excited about breaking out their slow cooker.

2. Getting into internet arguments with strangers.

3. Creating boards for things you hate or find gross.

I know the reason I go to Pinterest is to create boards to be reminded of all the things that bug me. That sounds totally healthy and mature.

What about you? Have you seen anything on Pinterest that has made you cringe, laugh or facepalm?

  2. I'm probably guilty of excessive exclamation points, ha ha, and I wasn't ever a cheerleader! If I'm having a bad day, I head right over to the humor section to get my laugh on!

  3. My peeve is when people I follow pin items to the wrong board. Say I am following "Sue's sewing board" and she keeps pining recopies to it.

  5. I hate it when people put the entire recipe in the pin description. It's actually against the TOS, so I have on occasion posted a comment saying that it should be changed. I also hate it when the picture clearly does not match the recipe. I actually got into a little bit of an argument with somebody over this a couple of weeks ago: http://pinterest.com/pin/77687162293744849/?e_t=d8bd2a2e45bc43c7948ca10e6c593f7c&e_t_s=comment-pin-button&utm_source=sendgrid.com&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=comment_conversation Was I in the wrong to point this out?

  6. I have to say, I really enjoy pinterest. I love cooking, and I have found it to be a good source for new recipes. I have made quite a few that have been very much enjoyed by my family. I also enjoy finding and sharing links to web pages on historical fashion, and art, nature, cute animals, historical homes, interior design, etc. My only gripe is the creeps who post porn. AND...I have pinned a lot of Jam Hands recipes, and they always get repinned!

  9. Many, maybe all of those "diet programs that are SO easy" have a common source. Its becoming more and more annoying, because they have something to sell, apparently, and all emanate from a single source. They Pinners and the Sites are fake; they all have similar boards, some the same ones altogether. I used to be amused, then was annoyed, and now am getting the grrrrrs because they take time, bandwidth, and other resources that used to be filled with interesting pins, and the source isn't honest enough to be up front, and apparently thinks that Pinners have the IQ's of house plants to fall for their scams. Thanks for letting me vent. I'm here, actually because I very much enjoy your site and love the recipies. At the moment I'm working on mstering the bread recipies. I'll waddle back to the keyboard when that's accomplished, to let you know that I managed it. Again, thanks, for sharing your time and expertise with us.
