All righty. So someone had a birthday at my husband's work today, and birthday guy decided to celebrate himself by throwing a bacon party on his birthday. Genius, right? What guy wouldn't want to be showered with bacon treats. He got creativity points for his announcement:

| The party announcement. Bonus points for including Kevin Bacon. |
Normally my husband doesn't even tell me about the work parties until the day after so I have been not contributing food to the parties. This time around I got plenty of notice. You might have guessed that my contribution was the recipe from earlier today, the
Bacon Cinnamon Rolls. I also made two batches of Caramel Bacon Rolls, which I thought were awesome. They have a great sweet and salty thing going on.

I thought you might like to see the other treats that were brought in, after all bacon has been the big food trend the past year.
Note: There is one last bacon item that was so terrifying that I am putting it under the "read more" section near the end of the post. It is just too scary!

This would be a replica of the birthday boy, made out of bacon and mashed potatoes. I mean, it is great and creative, but oh my god, it is so awful at the same time. Did you guys ever see
Ham Face Girl? This is like her scary dad, Bacon Face Guy. *Shudder*
Omg. This post is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteJo-Anna
That is hilarious and yet looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteAli, this is just too much! I love bacon anything. Now you just need to twist people's arms and get the recipes for the rest, except for the bacon face.
ReplyDeleteBacon cheese ball:
ReplyDelete• 1 lb bacon
• 8 oz cream cheese, softened
• 8 oz cheddar cheese, shredded
• 1/4 tsp onion powder
• 1/8 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts(optional)
Directions:
Fry bacon. Drain grease and crumble bacon into small pieces. Combine with remaining ingredients (except nuts) and form into ball. Roll in nuts if desired. Refrigerate over night.
Serve with crackers.
Bacon Mac and Cheese
ReplyDelete16 oz low sodium bacon (gotta be healthy)
2 lbs elbow macaroni pasta
1-1.5 lbs sharp cheddar, shredded
Shredded Parmesean / Asiago mix – roughly 4 oz.
Velveeta – roughly 4 oz.
3/4 of a stick of butter
2 tsp. garlic salt
1 to 1.5 cups 2% milk (maybe more if you want it creamier)
1/4 cup heavy cream
Directions:
1. In a large pot, prepare and boil pasta as directed on pasta package.
2. In a large saucepan, completely melt butter and add garlic salt.
3. To the melted butter, add cheddar, parmesean, and velveeta, and cook over medium heat until creamy.
4. Drain pasta and return it to the pot as directed.
5. Add the melted cheese to the pasta, stirring it a lot.
6. Fry the bacon while the pasta cools slightly
7. Dry the bacon and break it into small pieces, then add to pasta and mix thoroughly (if waiting to serve until the next day, do not add bacon until next day).
8. Use a VERY small amount of bacon grease and additional milk, if necessary, to prevent pasta from sticking together too much.
The cheese gets solid again as it cools, but will melt again if you serve it in a slow cooker.
Bacon chocolate chocolate chip cookies:
ReplyDelete6 slices maple-cured bacon, chopped (or more!! More is better.)
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup softened butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks
Instructions:
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place the bacon in a large, deep skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on a paper towel-lined plate. Crumble.
Drain the bacon grease into a safe container—it’s the secret ingredient!
Beat the sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract with an electric mixer in a large bowl until fluffy and smooth. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix in the chocolate chips and bacon. Pour a little bit of the bacon grease into the mix—just enough! Mmm. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Let stand 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Kentucky Bourbon Bacon Chex Mix:
ReplyDelete1 bag (15 oz) Chex Mix® traditional snack mix
1 cup pecan halves
1/2 lb bacon (6 to 8 slices), crisply cooked and crumbled
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons bourbon
3/4 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
1. Heat oven to 300°F. Line two 15x10x1-inch pans with foil. Spray foil with cooking spray. In large bowl, mix snack mix, pecans and bacon. Set aside.
2. In 2-quart saucepan, heat brown sugar, butter and corn syrup over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until bubbly around edges. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally; remove from heat. Cool 2 minutes. Carefully stir in bourbon and chipotle chili powder. Pour over snack mixture; toss until evenly coated.
3. Spread snack mixture on pans. Bake 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, to caramelize mixture. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Break into pieces. Store covered in refrigerator.
Thanks, Ali. I am officially in "Bacon Heaven". Can't wait to try every one of these. Be back tomorrow for the Caramel Bacon Rolls.
ReplyDeleteI never thought it was possible to have too much of a good thing, but I swear my arteries clogged just looking at all those pictures! And the bacon man. Yes, nightmares will be happening. LOL! BTW, I gave you a blog award so come on over to claim it!
ReplyDeleteI love bacon..but the chicken fried bacon is too much for me...LOL! My little one saw the cinnamon rolls and now wants me to make them :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh the end of this post is so freaky!! So funny Ali!
ReplyDeleteI could eat the whole bowl of that Chex mix. Anything with bacon is a winner in my book!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun, bacon-licious post! That last one is maybe a little too much of a good thing. lol Love the looks of your Caramel Bacon Rolls and am looking forward to the recipe.
ReplyDeleteWow!! I've never heard of bacon cinnamon rolls! Yummy!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, the head is scary. I'll probably have nightmares. Thanks for that. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, but I have an affinity for the cheddar stuffed ones over the cream cheese. But the cream cheese works better on the grill. So, I got a little creative. I bought Win Schuler's Bar Cheese (the best cheddar spread out there, but not every one can buy it, make sure you use a sharp cheddar though). I mixed bar cheese and crumbled blue cheese, then spooned it into the jalapenos, wrapped in bacon and grilled. Delicious! It' our favorite version now.
Unbelievable - that's a whole lot of bacon! Love your contributions, plus the bacon jalapeno poppers. That head though, is truly scary!
ReplyDeleteYeah I am so with you guys. That bacon head is just too scary haha
ReplyDeletehaha love it, bacon is such a trend right now! i wish i'd seen that bacon head before our bacon party haha
