Equipment

  • 9″x5″ Loaf Pan

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 12 ounces beer
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375-f degrees. Prepare a bread loaf pan or 8″ square pan.
  • Mix dry ingredients first, combining them thoroughly before adding beer. (A whisk works great for this part). Add beer, then stir with a spoon until combined.
  • Add a small amount of melted butter to bottom of pan. Pour batter into loaf pan. Pour melted butter over mixture. Be sure to put an extra pan or some foil beneath your bread as the butter might overflow.
  • Bake 1 hour for a bread loaf pan. If you use a 8″ square pan check it around 45 min. and every 5 min then on until done. Remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes.

  1. This bread turned out wonderfully! I was on a mission to re-create a beer bread that is served at luncheon meetings I frequent. I found several very similar recipes on Pinterest, but I liked your blog best. I'm sharing your recipe on my blog and linking to your blog – just wanted to let you know 🙂 Thank you!

  2. Made this recipe last night for some friends that came over for dinner. They loved it, and so did I. Instead of regular butter I used honey butter. I t came out very crunchy on top and moist in the middle. Will be making this again very soon. Thinking of adding some garlic and maybe parmesan or another type of cheese to it.

  3. I made this to go with our spaghetti tonight and it was so good. I used a hard cider and it really brought out the apple flavor. Next time I'll try adding a little cheddar to it.

  4. 4 stars
I think needs a little more beer; will try adding more next time. Good taste, but crumbles when cut. Easy to make.
