Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps

Talk about taking my time. I made these Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps several years ago during the football season and I'm just now posting them. Sheesh!

These are a simple and delicious appetizer. Perhaps a bit less chili powder and I'd be more of a fan. Either way, they'd be a tasty addition to your next party or family get together.

Ready for the recipe?

Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps
Makes 12-15 wraps

4 boneless, skinless, chicken breasts
1 (1-pound) package sliced bacon
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes. Cut each bacon slice into thirds. Wrap each chicken cube with bacon and secure with a wooden pick. Stir together brown sugar and chili powder. Dredge wrapped chicken in mixture. Coat a rack and broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place chicken wrap on rack in broiler pan. Bake 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or until bacon is crisp.

  5. Mmmm, those look amazing! Of course, maybe they don't need the brown sugar or chili powder. Little bites of chicken wrapped in bacon hardly need anything added. Bacon makes everything better, right?

  7. I've made these! You're going to die when I tell you this, but I actually used fake vegan chicken and wrapped it in bacon for this recipe. I know, right? I'm insane. But it was so good--I'm def a fan of the spicy, sweet & smoky.

  23. Absolutely delicious! I am going to have to triple this recipe for my family. They will be a hit for sure. I just saw a recipe that had chicken stuffed with jalapenos and cream cheese...wrapped in bacon and then grilled. Your sweet and spicy rub on the outside of those would be fantastic! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

  33. I do not own a broiler rack. But would love to make these this evening since I have everything on hand. Any suggestions?

    1. I have made these without a rack. I just line my large cookie sheet with parchment paper. They are awesome and always a great hit at our carry-in luncheons.

  34. you can also make them by saturating each piece of chicken in BBQ sauce, stick a wedge of mozzarella cheese on the chicken and then wrap it in bacon!! works equally well for a meal rather than finger food or an appetizer - chicken breast, bbq sauce, sliced mozz cheese and bacon on top!

  35. Just made these and to get the bacon to cook, I had to leave them in for an hour. Very tasty.

  36. I appreciate hearing from those who've actually made the recipe rather than those who want to make it. That is not really as helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Do you think I could bbq them? Should I pre-cook the bacon? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Kim - I would pre cook the bacon a bit. I haven't bbq'd them so I can't say one way or another about that, but if you pre cook the bacon I think it would be delicious :)

  41. Is the chicken supposed to be cooked or raw?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. For the cooking time listed, that is for raw. If you wanted to use already cooked chicken, you'd have to be very careful because it might dry out easily.

  42. I do these just a little differently. I combine chili powder with garlic powder. Roll the chicken in that. Wrap with bacon then do the brown sugar. The juice these make in the oven is scrumptious

  43. these were amazing. i actually used chipotle powder though, we're a family of spice! though its not the most healthy serving, i actually made it into a dinner. i cut the breasts into long strips and used one slice of bacon to cover it. simply amazing. i must say that the second time i made them i tried laying them out on a bakers rack.. not nearly as good.

  44. Made these today...YUM! Wouldn't change a thing!!
